At Creative Edge Travel, we take pride in the way we go beyond the basics of travel in Italy to truly connect you with the culture and its people. Today we’re giving you a closer look at the story behind Andrea, the man behind the wheel for our small group tours and immersive experiences in Mugello, Tuscany. Read on to meet Andrea!

1. Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Florence but I’ve always lived in Borgo San Lorenzo, where Creative Edge Travel’s Living Slow in Tuscany tour takes place.

2. What did you do before you became a driver?

I’ve done many jobs but the most interesting one was working as the manager of a mechanic shop for industrial trucks.

3. How did you decide you wanted to be a driver for visitors to Tuscany?

The private taxi business was passed from my father to me. I decided to take the same path he had chosen to take care of clients who want to visit my land.

4. What do you like most about your job?

I like to talk with my guests who come from all over the world to know my land. As an Italian sommelier from the AIS Italian Sommelier Association, I also enjoy recommending our best dishes and wines.

5. What do you think is unique about your area?

Surely the nature and tranquility. Tuscany offers a stupendous sea, marvelous nature, and excellent food!

6. What are some of your passions outside of work?

I really like to play sports. I was a soccer player and played handball as well. I like to cook for my friends and drink good Italian wine! My favorite cocktail is an Old Fashioned.

7. What is your favorite Italian dish?

It’s difficult to respond to this question! I love spaghetti with fresh tomato, basil, and a sprinkle of grana cheese and lemon zest. Otherwise, tagliatelle al ragù (but made by ME).

8. What do you most appreciate about your culture?

I believe we Italians are a people that easily transmit positivity and passion. We are a population that is very welcoming and that still does not know all the treasure called Italy.
